Affandi has travelled extensively in USA, Europe, Middle East and Asia during the last fourteen years. His overseas experiences include setting-up of companies and manufacturing facilities in USA/ Dubai/ Pakistan; procurement of services/ equipment/ materials in USA/England/ France/ Belgium/ Italy/ Dubai/ Bangladesh/ India/ Pakistan/ Bangkok/ Vietnam/Philippines/Hong Kong/Australia; recruitment of expatriates for the regional offices and reviewing and monitoring of regional offices performance. He was also the Project Manager for a US$75 million project (engineering, procurement and construction of H 2S Removal Plant and Gas Dehydration Plant) in Pakistan.

In addition, Affandi is a trainer for SSA’s various courses and has also given numerous workshops and talks on Entrepreneurship (Be Your Own Boss - Tips for Success) and SOHO (Starting a Home-Based Business) at various Total Defence Road Shows, CDAC’s Training Day (2003, 2005), CDAC’s Job Skills Exhibition (2003, 2005), Learning Expo 2003, 2004 & 2005 and SITEX 2003. His training topics include:

Affandi used to serve in various community organisations in Singapore . Some of his achievements include pioneering the concept of computer centre in a mosque, which has become a standard feature for all new mosques built in Singapore. He also pioneered the concept of tendering system for the furnishing of a mosque in 1986. He is also the Chairman of Damai Primary School Advisory Committee since 2001and former Chairman of Orchid Park Condominium MSCT (a 614-unit estate) from 2001to 2005.

He is also trained in Business Process Re-engineering, On-The-Job Training (OJT), Balanced Scorecards, Six-Sigma and Manufacturing Resource Planning. He has a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Diploma in Management Studies and Diploma in Management Consultancy. He is also licensed trainer for the Employability Skills System and Singapore 2006 Customer Service Training Programme, both WDA-initiated national training programmes.
